State of LGTBQ+ Housing in Spain & Portugal
GREA's flagship report, published annually. This first volume is a preview — it sets out what we'll measure and why; the full edition publishes primary data from the founding network.

What it covers
Three questions the report will answer.
Experience
Buying & renting
How LGTBQ+ people actually experience the search, the viewing, the offer and the lease — and where they feel they have to come out to get served well.
Geography
Most welcoming regions
The cities, coasts and neighbourhoods the community perceives as most welcoming, and how that maps onto where people are actually moving.
Barriers
Paperwork, financing & safety
The friction points: the NIE and deeds, non-resident mortgages for same-sex couples, and perceived safety as a factor in where to settle.
Why this report
No one is measuring this yet.
Spain is one of the world's most LGTBQ+-friendly countries and a leading destination for international buyers from the UK and the US. Yet there is no dedicated source tracking how the community actually experiences buying, renting and relocating here.
GREA exists to fill that gap. As the founding network grows, we'll gather primary data — from professionals and from the people they serve — and publish it openly, with its methodology and sources. This preview is the first step toward that record.
Context · v0 preview, illustrative
These reference points set the scene. They are illustrative context, not findings — verified figures arrive with the full edition.
